Controversial Nairobi preacher Victor Kanyari has officially announced that he plans to contest for the Kasarani Member of Parliament seat during the 2027 General Election.
Kanyari announced on Saturday, May 9, while speaking during a church service in Ruai, Nairobi County. The event was attended by former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua and other leaders.
While addressing the congregation, the preacher openly declared his political ambitions and said he wants to represent Kasarani residents in Parliament.
“I admire Gachagua very much. I will be vying for the Kasarani MP seat,” Kanyari told worshippers during the service.
Although he did not reveal the political party he plans to use in the election, his remarks about Gachagua have sparked discussions about his possible political alliance ahead of the 2027 polls.
Kanyari is the founder of Salvation Healing Ministry based in Kayole, Nairobi. Over the years, he has remained one of the most talked-about pastors in Kenya because of both his ministry work and public controversies.
He first gained national attention in 2014 after an exposé accused him of allegedly staging miracles during church services. The reports claimed that some of the miracles involved the use of chemicals to create what were described as “blood miracles.”
The preacher also became famous for the “310 seed offering” slogan that was commonly used during fundraising sessions in his church. The slogan later attracted mixed reactions from Kenyans on social media.
This is not the first time Kanyari has shown interest in politics. In 2018, he announced plans to run for the Embakasi Central parliamentary seat using the Jubilee Party ticket.
At the time, he said he wanted to serve local residents and help solve challenges affecting the area, including poor roads and water shortages. However, he did not make it to the final ballot.
Despite the controversies surrounding him, Kanyari has also been involved in charity activities in Nairobi. He has previously supported needy families by paying school fees, donating school uniforms, and helping with water projects in some informal settlements within the city.
