Gachagua Explains How He Got Details of Ruto’s Speech Before It Aired

Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has explained how he was able to reveal details of President William Ruto’s national address before it was aired on television.
Speaking during an interview on Friday, July 31, Gachagua claimed that he receives information from trusted people working in different government offices. He said he only shares information after confirming that it is accurate.
According to Gachagua, some of the information comes from people working inside State House. He alleged that some government officers are unhappy with the current situation and have chosen to share information with him.
He thanked the people who provide him with information and urged them to continue giving him facts that can be verified.
Gachagua also claimed that officers in the Presidential Escort Unit have not received their allowances. He said this has caused frustration among some officers and could affect security. However, these claims have not been independently verified.
The former Deputy President further alleged that staff working in the Presidential Delivery Unit are facing challenges, including delayed allowances and a shortage of official vehicles.
His remarks come after he appeared to correctly predict parts of President Ruto’s Special National Address before it was broadcast. Before the speech, Gachagua claimed the President would launch a Vision 2060 programme and announce a role for former President Uhuru Kenyatta.
However, although President Ruto later announced the Vision 2060 plan, he did not mention any role for Uhuru Kenyatta during the address.
Gachagua also criticised President Ruto, claiming the Head of State is making decisions out of fear of losing the presidency after serving one term.
At the time of publication, State House had not publicly responded to Gachagua’s allegations, and the claims about information leaks and unpaid allowances had not been independently verified.
