Mercy Masai has Join DCP party Plans to Vie the Kajiado Woman Rep in the 2027

Mercy Nashipai Legilisho, popularly known as Mercy Masai, has joined Rigathi Gachagua’s Democracy for the Citizens Party (DCP) as she prepares to contest for the Kajiado Woman Representative seat in the 2027 General Election.
Gachagua welcomed Masai to the party on Monday, saying her decision reflected the wishes of people in Kajiado.
“Welcome to DCP Party Mercy Nashipai Legilisho (Mercy Masai) as you plan your bid for the position of Woman Representative for Kajiado County,” Gachagua said.
He added that Masai had made the right decision by joining DCP, saying the party would champion the aspirations of Kenyans.
Masai’s move comes as DCP continues to expand its political presence outside its traditional support base as the country heads towards the 2027 elections.
The party has recently attracted several politicians, including Nyandarua Governor Kiarie Badilisha, Murang’a Governor Irungu Kang’ata and East African Legislative Assembly MP Kanini Kega.
DCP Expands in Kajiado
Gachagua has also been working to strengthen the party’s presence in Kajiado.
On August 10, he announced that several Kajiado MCAs and an electoral aspirant had joined DCP. The group included leaders who had previously been associated with UDA and ODM.
Gachagua said the new members had told him that their supporters wanted them to join a political party that would listen to their concerns.
“The journey to 100 per cent DCP in Kajiado is almost complete,” he said.
DCP has adopted the slogan “Skiza Wakenya” as Gachagua seeks to build the party into a national political vehicle ahead of the 2027 General Election.
Masai’s entry into the party is expected to give DCP another political foothold in Kajiado as it continues its grassroots mobilisation.
