Raila Odinga's Cousin Job Odima Atinga Dies, Family Pays Tribute

The family of former Prime Minister Raila Odinga is mourning the death of Job Odima Atinga, a former senior officer in the National Intelligence Service (NIS).

His death was announced by Raila Odinga’s sister, Ruth Odinga, who visited the family home in Alego Kakan, Siaya County, to comfort relatives and pay her respects.

In her condolence message, Ruth described Atinga as a committed public servant who dedicated many years of his life to protecting Kenya.

According to her, Atinga served as a senior officer in the National Intelligence Service before later working at the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) Nyanza Regional Office.

She said he was respected by fellow officers for his professionalism, integrity and commitment to duty throughout his career.

Ruth also sent her condolences to Atinga’s widow, Syprose Odupe Atinga, their children and the entire family, promising that they would continue to support them during the mourning period.

The death comes as the Odinga family continues to recover from several losses experienced over the past year.

In October 2025, the family lost Raila Odinga, who died at the age of 80 after suffering a cardiac arrest while on a morning walk in Kerala, India.

A few weeks later, the family was again thrown into mourning following the death of Raila’s sister, Beryl Achieng Odinga, after a long illness.
