Nova Flow Boyz Biography: Rise of Nairobi’s New Hip Hop Group

Nova Flow Boyz is a Kenyan hip hop group from Nairobi, Kenya. Formed in early 2023, the group consists of members Jeremiah Msaziri professionally known as Jeraz Ke, Amos Anyera professionally known as Lil Cea, Delland Ochieng professionally known as Potmo, and Fulfill Steven professionally known as Bruce Kahid. Also known as the Rap Monsters, the group originated during their Class 8 year at Supaloaf Primary School in Nairobi’s Eastlands area.

Known for their visceral verses, documentary-style lyricism, and fusion of drill, UK rap, gangsta rap, and hardcore hip hop, Nova Flow Boyz frequently collaborate with established acts such as Kaxumbari. They are recognized for their influence on Kenyan urban hip hop, specifically for their integration of Sheng (local slang) and their vivid depictions of life in Nairobi’s Eastlands.

The group gained mainstream recognition with their debut single, “Kimangoto.” Within its first month, the track amassed over 10,000 streams on Spotify. Although it was later removed from streaming platforms due to a technical error involving the distributor DistroKid, it was subsequently re-distributed by ACTS Music Group. During an interview on the Wear Your Story podcast, hosted by Moureen Ngigi, the group’s manager, Peter Ombati (known as Manager Smartboy), described Nova Flow Boyz as part of a “hip hop renaissance” in Nairobi, attributing their impact to music that resonates with ordinary Kenyan youth.
