Emotional Moment as Father of Utumishi Fire Victim Breaks Down During David Osiany's Visit

The father of a 15-year-old student who lost her life in the tragic dormitory fire at Utumishi Girls Academy in Gilgil was overcome with emotion when former Chief Administrative Secretary David Osiany visited his family in Narok.

The grieving father, Dennis Nyakeri, was captured in a viral video shortly after the tragedy while desperately searching for information about his daughter’s whereabouts. Sadly, it was later confirmed that the teenager had died in the fire that shocked the nation.

Sharing his experience on Facebook, David Osiany revealed that he travelled to Narok on Saturday to personally visit the family and offer comfort during their difficult time.

According to Osiany, he found Dennis and his wife, Pastor Rebecca Maina, attending a church service when he arrived. He said the atmosphere was filled with sorrow, pain, and unanswered questions as family members and friends struggled to come to terms with the loss.

One of the most emotional moments came when another parent recalled a conversation with Dennis. The grieving father reportedly referred to Psalm 90:10, which speaks about people living for seventy or eighty years. He then painfully asked how his daughter could lose her life at only 15 years old.

Osiany admitted that hearing those words deeply affected him and brought him to tears. He said he had never met the family before and had no personal connection to them, but felt compelled to stand with them in their moment of grief.

He described the pain in the family as overwhelming, saying that no parent should have to endure the heartbreaking process of identifying their child after such a devastating incident.

Osiany also called on Kenyans to continue supporting and praying for families affected by the dormitory fire. He urged residents of Narok and well-wishers across the country to visit the family, offer comfort, and help them navigate the difficult days ahead.

The tragic fire at Utumishi Girls Academy claimed the lives of several students and left many families mourning the loss of their loved ones.
