Football fans in Kenya have received good news after YouTube announced several ways viewers can follow the 2026 FIFA World Cup without paying.
The video-sharing platform revealed that fans around the world will be able to access match highlights, analysis, creator content and behind-the-scenes coverage throughout the tournament.
Free Content Available on YouTube
From the opening match on June 11 to the final on July 19, YouTube has partnered with FIFA and official broadcasters to bring World Cup content closer to fans.
According to the platform, the official FIFA YouTube channel will mainly provide highlights, analysis and updates from the tournament. In addition, some official broadcasters will stream the opening minutes of every match on their YouTube channels.
YouTube also disclosed that selected matches may be available in full on the platform, although this will depend on broadcasting rights in different countries.
“While the official FIFA YouTube channel will offer tournament highlights and analysis, many of FIFA’s official media partners will be streaming the first 10 minutes of matches and, in some cases, selected full matches from start to finish,” the platform stated.
Broadcasters in some countries may also choose to show complete matches on YouTube depending on the agreements they have secured.
Some Live Matches May Be Available
In the United States, subscribers of YouTube TV will have access to all 104 World Cup matches through channels such as Fox, FS1, Telemundo and Universo.
Fans who subscribe to FOX One through YouTube’s Primetime Channels service will also be able to watch every match directly on the platform.
However, access to full matches in other countries will depend on local broadcasting rights.
What About Kenya?
For football lovers in Kenya, YouTube may not offer full live coverage of every match. However, viewers will still have access to extensive highlights and short clips through YouTube Shorts and uploads from official broadcasters.
By searching “FIFA World Cup 2026” on YouTube, fans will be able to watch goal compilations, post-match analysis, key moments and other short videos designed for mobile users.
Apart from the action on the pitch, YouTube has also given content creators access to the tournament, allowing them to share behind-the-scenes footage, training sessions and exclusive moments with their audiences.
For Kenyans, the government’s decision to secure live television coverage through KBC means fans will enjoy both the official broadcasts and extra content available on YouTube, including scenes from the tunnel and training grounds.
Easy Way to Follow Matches
Fans can easily stay updated throughout the tournament by searching for World Cup content on YouTube. The platform is expected to provide regular highlights, analysis and exclusive clips from the competition.
The 2026 FIFA World Cup will kick off on Thursday, June 11, and conclude on July 19. The tournament will be hosted jointly by the United States, Canada and Mexico.
