NITA and Solar Mtaani Announce Free Solar Energy Training for Kenyans

The National Industrial Training Authority (NITA) has partnered with Solar Mtaani to offer a fully sponsored solar energy training programme from Mombasa, Kilifi and Kwale counties.
The training will take place at the NITA Mombasa Training Centre from July 6 to July 17, 2026. A total of 30 youths will be selected and trained on practical skills in solar photovoltaic installation and maintenance.
Applicants are required to have a background in Electrical Wireman Grade II or Grade III.
Apart from the training, successful candidates will also receive sponsorship to sit for the August Trade Test assessment and certification, which can improve their chances of securing jobs in the growing renewable energy sector.
According to NITA and Solar Mtaani, the programme aims to promote green skills and increase the participation of women in technical and emerging industries.
