Gachau Njoroge reveals how much Oga Obinna paid him after Vurugu 2 defeat

Fitness content creator Gachau Njoroge has revealed that taking part in the Vurugu 2 boxing event became the highest-paying sporting activity of his career despite losing the fight.

Speaking during an interview with radio presenter and podcaster Alex Mwakideu, Gachau said he walked away with KSh 650,000 after the event organised by comedian Oga Obinna.

According to Gachau, the amount was far more than anything he has ever earned from bodybuilding competitions.

“Vurugu 2 had good pay. I walked out with KSh 650,000, and I was very impressed,” he said.

The fitness enthusiast explained that bodybuilding has not been financially rewarding for most athletes, even though they spend months preparing for competitions.

He said only a few top bodybuilders make good money, while many continue competing because of their passion for the sport.

Gachau also disclosed that he and fellow bodybuilder Phil, who defeated him in the boxing match, agreed to share the earnings equally. He said their friendship was more important than who won the fight.

According to him, they agreed privately before the event and decided both of them would benefit from the opportunity.

He further revealed that Oga Obinna later rewarded him with an extra KSh 50,000 as a bonus for his impressive performance inside the ring.

The bodybuilder praised Obinna for organising the event and creating an opportunity that allowed participants to earn more than they normally would in bodybuilding.

Many Kenyans reacted to Gachau’s revelation on social media, with several congratulating him for making the most of the opportunity. Others praised his humility and the friendship he shares with Phil.

After the boxing event, Gachau and Phil were seen together reflecting on their six-round contest. The two embraced and showed mutual respect, a moment that impressed many fans who praised their sportsmanship despite the competitive fight.
