Ruto Announces Ksh150 Million+ for Schools That Participated in Kenya Music Festival

President William Ruto has directed the Ministry of Education to give Ksh5 million to every school and institution that participated in the 98th Kenya Music Festival State Concert held at State Lodge, Bungoma.
Nearly 30 institutions took part in the event, meaning the total allocation could exceed Ksh150 million.
Ruto said the money will help the participating institutions improve their facilities and create a better environment for nurturing young creative talent.
“There are close to 30 institutions participating in this event,” Ruto said, adding that the funding would support infrastructure for young creatives.
Kenya National Talent Search
During the event, Ruto also announced plans to introduce the Kenya National Talent Search, a programme that will identify and support talented young people across the country.
The programme will cover areas such as music, acting, comedy, poetry, film, dance and sports.
The President directed the State Department for Youth to work with the Creative Economy Office and the Sports Fund to start the programme.
He said Deputy President Kithure Kindiki would coordinate government support for the initiative.
Ruto proposed that the first National Talent Search be themed “Kenya Beyond 2030.”
Bungoma Smart City Plans
Ruto also said the proposed smart city project in Bungoma will be redesigned to accommodate more residents.
He directed the Ministry of Housing to increase the planned development from 14 floors to 24 floors.
The President said the project would include shopping centres, learning institutions and medical facilities.
He added that similar developments would be pursued in other parts of Kenya.
New Laws to Support Artists
Ruto also urged Parliament to speed up the Copyright Bill and Creative Economy Bill.
According to the President, the proposed laws will strengthen the protection of artists and help creatives receive fair compensation for their work.
