Faith Kipyegon Shines in Monaco Run with Stunning 10km Victory

The celebrated middle-distance star showed her usual calmness and smart race tactics as she defeated a competitive elite field in her first official race over the distance.
Kipyegon crossed the finish line in an impressive time of 29:46, moving up to position 14 on the all-time list of fastest women in the 10km event.
After the race, the four-time world 1500m champion admitted that the experience has sparked a fresh passion for road running.
“I always enjoy coming to Monaco,” she said ahead of the race. “It’s a very special place where I love competing on the track, and now I am here for a new mission — racing on the road. This is another challenge, running more than 5km on the road,” said the double world record holder.
The Monaco Run marked her first competition of the season for the 31-year-old star, who secured her fourth world title in Tokyo last year.
Kipyegon has previously hinted at her interest in moving into road racing, following the path taken by fellow champions Sifan Hassan and Hellen Obiri.
With such an impressive debut, athletics fans will be watching closely to see whether the track queen can extend her dominance to road races as well.
