Kenya Power Announce Power Blackout in Several Parts of the Country on Thursday, April 23, 2026.

The scheduled outage will affect parts of Nairobi, Kisumu, Nyeri, Laikipia, and Embu counties as the company continues with routine maintenance of its electricity network.

In a notice shared on its official social media pages, Kenya Power said the blackout will take place from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm, meaning customers in the listed areas should prepare for an eight-hour interruption.

According to the notice, several estates in Nairobi will be affected.

In Gachie, areas such as Stabex Petrol Station, Gachie Market, Redhill Baraka School, Muchugia Estate, Shamuka Road and Bishops Estate will be without electricity.

Other affected places in Nairobi include Mirema Drive, Mirema Springs and parts of Ngong Road, including Lenana School, Ngando Village, Santack Estate, Racecourse, Jamhuri Showground, Polo Club, Ayani Estate and Dagoretti Corner.

In Kisumu County, the blackout will affect Kajulu Water, Gita Market, Great Lakes University, Kianja and Nyabondo.

Residents in Nyeri County should also prepare for the outage, with places such as Kihari, Waihara Market, Kabebero Market, Iriani Market, Thunguri Market, Kiirini Market and Othaya Boys High School expected to be affected.

In Laikipia, the interruption will be experienced around Mia Moja Secondary School, Kamuthanga, Matangi and Ngenia Primary School.

Meanwhile, customers in Embu County in areas such as Kamugu Market, Itiira Market, Kirie Market, Mukororai Market and Kathanje Market will also be affected.

Kenya Power said the planned maintenance is aimed at improving electricity supply and strengthening the stability of its network.

The announcement comes at a time when many Kenyans continue to raise concerns about electricity costs and frequent power interruptions in different parts of the country.
