Morgan Rogers Shines as Aston Villa Extend Winning Run Against Manchester United

Aston Villa continued their impressive form after beating Manchester United 2-1 at Villa Park, recording their tenth straight win in all competitions and a seventh consecutive Premier League victory.

The win keeps Villa firmly in the title conversation, sitting third on the table, just one point behind Manchester City and three points off leaders Arsenal.

Rogers the Difference at Villa Park

The match belonged to Morgan Rogers, who delivered a brilliant performance by scoring two superb goals. His composure, movement, and finishing proved too much for United’s defence.

Villa started the game on the front foot, creating early chances through Ollie Watkins and Rogers. Although both opportunities went begging, the home side remained confident and in control.

Just before half-time, Rogers finally broke the deadlock. After controlling a fast pass from John McGinn, he cut inside past a defender and curled a precise shot beyond the goalkeeper to give Villa a deserved lead.

United Responds but Struggles After the Break

Manchester United managed to level the score in first-half stoppage time. A mistake at the back allowed the ball to fall kindly for Matheus Cunha, who calmly bent his shot past Emiliano Martínez.

However, United suffered a major setback when captain Bruno Fernandes was forced off at half-time with a hamstring problem, leaving the visitors short of creativity in midfield.

Second-Half Strike Seals the Win

Ten minutes into the second half, Rogers struck again. Poor defending from United allowed him space on the left, and he punished them with another accurate finish that sealed all three points for Villa.

United had a brief chance to respond when Cunha headed wide from a dangerous cross, but they failed to seriously threaten again as Villa managed the game confidently until the final whistle.

Villa Momentum Grows

With this result, Aston Villa head into the festive period full of belief, while Manchester United suffer only their second defeat in 11 matches, compounded by injury concerns and missing several key players.

Villa’s consistency and attacking quality continue to set them apart as genuine contenders this season.
