Bungoma Governor Kenneth Lusaka has dismissed all Members of the County Executive Committee (CECM), the County Attorney, and the County Secretary in a major leadership shake-up.
The announcement was made on Thursday, April 9, 2026, through an official statement from the county government. The governor said the decision was part of his constitutional powers aimed at improving service delivery and strengthening governance in Bungoma County.
Sudden County Government Shake-Up
According to the statement, all CECM members, the County Attorney, and the County Secretary were relieved of their duties with immediate effect. The governor cited legal provisions under the County Government Act as the basis for the decision.
He explained that the move was meant to reorganize the county administration to make it more efficient and effective in serving residents.
However, no immediate replacements were announced. The governor said that interim arrangements and future appointments would be communicated later in line with the law.
Services to Continue Despite Changes
The county government assured residents that essential services will continue without interruption. Measures have been put in place to ensure daily operations are not affected during the transition period.
Officials added that the restructuring is aimed at improving leadership and protecting the integrity of county institutions.
Connection to Impeachment Process
The changes come shortly after the Council of Governors and the Bungoma County Assembly reported receiving impeachment motions against a county official.
The County Assembly confirmed that the motions were being reviewed through the normal legal process before being presented for debate and approval.
At the moment, it is still unclear which specific official the impeachment motion targets.
