Thousands of students who sat for the 2025 KCSE exams have received another chance to secure university placement after the Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service reopened its application portal for a second course revision.
In a notice released on Saturday, May 16, KUCCPS said the portal will remain open until May 22. The move gives students who missed placement during the first application period another opportunity to apply for available university courses.
The placement body also confirmed that some students who got provisional placement into degree programmes have already received SMS notifications and updates through the student portal.
Students who were not successful during the first application process have now been asked to revise their course choices and apply for programmes that still have empty slots.
Speaking during the announcement, KUCCPS Chief Executive Officer Agnes Mercy Wahome encouraged all qualified students to take advantage of the second revision window.
“We are asking all 2025 KCSE candidates who qualified for degree courses but did not apply, as well as those who applied but missed placement, to log into the portal and apply again,” she said.
However, KUCCPS warned students who already received messages confirming provisional placement not to submit new applications during the ongoing revision period.
According to messages sent to candidates, students who secured provisional placement have been advised to wait until July 2026 when KUCCPS will officially release details of their universities and courses.
The placement agency revealed that 212,510 students who scored a mean grade of C+ and above in the 2025 KCSE exams have already applied for different programmes.
This number represents 79.1 per cent of the 268,714 candidates who qualified for university admission this year.
KUCCPS further explained that competitive courses such as Medicine, Nursing, Pharmacy and Engineering were fully filled during the first application phase because of high demand and limited university spaces.
As a result, the courses have been removed from the application portal, and students who missed the slots are now being advised to choose other available programmes.
Apart from university degree courses, KUCCPS also announced that applications for TVET institutions, Kenya Medical Training College and Kenya Utalii College are still open until all available positions are filled.
Some of the KMTC programmes currently available include Diploma in Community Health, Diploma in Mortuary Science, Diploma in Public Health, Diploma in Medical Engineering and Diploma in Medical Laboratory Sciences.
However, Nursing, Clinical Medicine and Pharmacy courses at KMTC are currently unavailable and will only reopen during the September intake.
