ODM party leader Hon. Oburu Odinga on Saturday stirred excitement in Migori after making light but pointed remarks about Suna East MP Junet Mohamed during a public event that drew a large crowd of party supporters.

Speaking at the gathering, Oburu left the audience in laughter and cheers when he described Junet Mohamed as a man whose political journey within ODM has been shaped by loyalty and hard work. Oburu remarked that Junet “used to be Raila’s son,” a statement he used to illustrate the close political relationship the legislator enjoyed with the late ODM leader Raila Odinga.

He added that after Raila’s death, Junet has now become “his son,” a comment that further ignited applause from the crowd.

Oburu used the moment to praise Junet Mohamed as one of the most hardworking and dependable figures within the ODM party.

He told supporters that Junet has consistently stood with the party through difficult political moments and has remained firm in defending ODM’s ideals both in and outside Parliament.

The ODM leader said Junet’s commitment should be recognised, noting that loyalty is a rare quality in Kenyan politics.

According to Oburu, the Migori event was not just about political mobilization but also about acknowledging individuals who have carried the party’s vision with discipline and courage.

Junet Mohamed, who was present at the event, acknowledged the remarks with humility, thanking ODM supporters for their continued trust.

He reaffirmed his loyalty to the party and said he remains committed to advancing its agenda and standing with its leadership.

The Migori meeting brought together ODM leaders and grassroots supporters, with speeches largely focusing on party unity and strengthening structures at the county level. The mood throughout the event remained upbeat, with Oburu’s remarks about Junet becoming one of the most talked-about moments of the day.
