Radio Citizen presenter Tina Ogal has officially joined the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) as political activities ahead of the 2027 General Election continue to gather momentum.
The veteran media personality was among several new aspirants welcomed into the party during an event held on Tuesday, April 28. The event was led by ODM Secretary General Catherine Omanyo.
During the meeting, Tina Ogal openly declared her interest in vying for the Embakasi East Member of Parliament seat, which is currently held by Babu Owino.
Her move into politics is expected to add a new twist to the race for the constituency, which is likely to attract strong competition as the 2027 elections draw closer.
Tina Ogal is a well-known journalist with more than 20 years of experience in the media industry. She joined Royal Media Services in 2004 and has since become one of the most recognised voices on Radio Citizen.
She is widely admired for her strong command of Swahili and her ability to connect with listeners through engaging discussions on important issues.
Over the years, her dedication and experience saw her rise in the media house, where she once served as the Acting Head of Radio after the exit of Jeridah Andayi.
Other aspirants who joined ODM during the same event include Bayamin Mahat, who is seeking the Waberi Ward seat in Garissa County, and Bobby Onunga, who has declared interest in the Embakasi Ward position in Nairobi.
According to party officials, the latest recruitment drive is part of ODM’s wider plan to strengthen its support base and attract fresh leaders from different parts of the country.
Catherine Omanyo said the party remains committed to creating a democratic space that allows more professionals and community leaders to participate in politics.
