Ruto Says God Has a Purpose for Making Him Kenya's President

President William Ruto has said he believes God has a purpose for making him Kenya’s President and that this inspires him to work harder for the country.

Speaking during a fundraiser at the Seventh Day Adventist Church in Nkarusha, Kajiado County, on Sunday, Ruto said he is committed to ensuring Kenya achieves meaningful development and becomes a nation all citizens can be proud of.

According to the President, his responsibility is to push for economic growth and improve the lives of Kenyans.

“There must be a reason God made me President of Kenya at this time, and that is why I always do my best to make sure our country becomes one we can all be proud of,” he said.

Ruto also responded to criticism over his frequent foreign trips, saying leadership requires hard work and proper planning. He noted that his schedule for the next six months is already full as he focuses on matters aimed at transforming the country.

The Head of State said Kenya needs to work harder to catch up with countries such as South Korea, Singapore and Malaysia, which have made significant economic progress over the years.

He further announced that he would travel to France on Monday to represent African countries during the G7 meeting. According to Ruto, discussions at the meeting will focus on how Africa can use its resources and human capital to accelerate development and strengthen partnerships with the rest of the world.
