Ruto Wants Security Guards Renamed to Private Security Officers
1 min read
President William Ruto has asked that people working in the private security industry be referred to as Private Security Officers (PSOs) instead of “watchmen” or “security guards.”
Speaking at State House during a meeting with thousands of private security workers, the President said the current terms do not give enough respect to the important work they do.
Ruto urged the Private Security Regulatory Authority (PSRA) to review its official language and adopt the name Private Security Officers (PSOs) in all its communications and documents.
He said the new title would better recognise the professionalism and contribution of people working in the private security sector.
