UB40, led by Ali Campbell, to perform at Kigali’s BK Arena

Kigali music lovers are in for a treat as the legendary British reggae group UB40 brings their The Big Love Tour to the BK Arena on June 9.

The concert in Kigali is part of UB40’s global tour promoting their latest album, The Big Love, which includes popular tracks like “That Look in Your Eye,” “Let Your Yeah Be Yeah,” and “Somethin’ Stupid.” Fans can expect the band’s signature mix of reggae grooves and catchy pop melodies.

Fronting the group is founding member Ali Campbell, whose iconic voice has shaped UB40’s sound for decades. Campbell co-founded the band in 1978, left in 2008, and returned in 2014, thrilling longtime fans around the world.

UB40 is known for timeless hits such as “Red Red Wine,” “Food for Thought,” “Can’t Help Falling in Love,” and “I Got You Babe.” Many of these songs topped charts in both the UK and the US, helping the band sell over 70 million records worldwide. Interestingly, the band’s name comes from a UK government unemployment form, a reflection of the social issues they often highlight in their music.

Before reaching Kigali, UB40 has toured countries including New Zealand, Australia, Fiji, and Samoa, and will headline the Grenada Reggae Fest in the US. Their tour also includes stops in cities like New York, Cincinnati, and San Francisco, as well as South African cities Cape Town, Durban, and Pretoria. After Kigali, the band will continue their tour across the UK and Ireland, performing in major cities such as London, Manchester, and Birmingham.

The BK Arena, East Africa’s largest indoor venue with a capacity of around 10,000, has become a hub for international concerts. Previous performers include Doja Cat, Kendrick Lamar, John Legend, Davido, Shenseea, and Mavado. UB40’s Kigali show promises to be another unforgettable night for music fans in the region.
