2025 KCSE Results: 1,932 Students Score A as 270,000 Qualify for Direct University Entry
The Ministry of Education has announced that 270,000 students who sat the 2025 Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) exams scored C+ and above, making them eligible for direct university admission.
President William Ruto, who received a briefing on the exam outcomes from Education Cabinet Secretary Migos Ogamba at Eldoret State Lodge, Uasin Gishu County, revealed that this number represents 27% of the 993,000 candidates who sat the exams.
A total of 1,932 candidates achieved a grade A, marking the highest achievers in this year’s KCSE cycle. This is an increase compared to 1,693 students who scored A in 2024, when 246,391 candidates qualified for direct university placement.
President Ruto highlighted the performance on his social media platform, noting, “We are impressed that out of the 993,000 candidates, 50% were girls, and 270,000 have attained C+ and above, securing direct university entry.”

The official release of the 2025 KCSE results is scheduled to take place today at AIC Chebisas High School in Eldoret, following the president’s briefing.
The exams were conducted from October 21 to November 21, 2025, including oral and practical assessments before the written theory papers.
The Education Ministry also reported a drop in exam malpractice cases, with 418 students involved this year, down from 614 in 2024, showing improvement in exam integrity.
