President William Ruto has left the country for a three-country visit in Europe aimed at creating new opportunities for Kenyan businesses, workers and investors.
According to State House Spokesperson Hussein Mohammed, the President’s trip will take him to Belgium, Norway and Finland. The visit is expected to focus on increasing trade, attracting investment and strengthening Kenya’s economic ties with European nations.
During his stay in Belgium, President Ruto is scheduled to hold talks with senior leaders on matters related to trade, investment and cooperation between Kenya and European countries. He is also expected to discuss the implementation of the Kenya-European Union Economic Partnership Agreement, which gives Kenyan products easier access to European markets.
The agreement is expected to benefit key Kenyan exports such as tea, coffee, flowers and fresh produce by allowing them to enter European markets without additional taxes or restrictions.
In Norway, President Ruto will meet top government officials to discuss cooperation in renewable energy, climate-friendly projects and the blue economy. He is also expected to attend a business forum bringing together investors from Kenya and Norway to explore opportunities in clean energy, electric transport and modern agriculture.
The final stop of the tour will be Finland, where President Ruto will hold talks with President Alexander Stubb. The two leaders are expected to discuss ways of strengthening cooperation in education, technology, healthcare, clean energy and security.
The visit will also include the Kenya-Finland Business Forum, where investors will explore opportunities in technology, manufacturing, innovation and value addition.
President Ruto is also expected to address the Kultaranta Talks, an international forum that focuses on foreign policy and security issues, with Africa featuring prominently in this year’s discussions.
The Europe tour comes shortly after President Ruto returned from South Africa, where Kenya and South Africa signed several agreements aimed at boosting trade and strengthening relations between the two countries.
