KMTC Announces Fully Funded Scholarships Deadline Before March 15

Health workers across Kenya have a new opportunity to advance their careers after the Kenya Medical Training College (KMTC) unveiled fully funded scholarships for its March 2026 intake.
The scholarships, offered in partnership with the Ministry of Health and the East Africa Centre of Excellence in Urology and Nephrology (EACE-UN), will support specialised training in kidney care and related medical fields. Successful applicants will have their tuition fees fully paid and will also receive a stipend.
The East Africa Centre of Excellence in Urology and Nephrology, also known as the East African Kidney Institute (EAKI), was established to strengthen the fight against kidney diseases in the region. The programme is funded by the Kenyan government with support from the African Development Bank.
The scholarships target higher diplomas and specialised programmes, including:
Higher Diploma in Medical Engineering (Dialysis Equipment) – 2 years (Full-time)
Higher Diploma in Medical Engineering (Therapeutic Equipment) – 2 years (Full-time)
Higher Diploma in Medical Engineering (Diagnostic Equipment) – 2 years (Full-time)
Higher Diploma in Clinical Medicine & Surgery (Nephrology) – 2 years (Full-time)
Higher Diploma in Nephrology Nursing – 2 years (Full-time)
Short Course in Renal Transplant Nursing – 6 months (Full-time)
Higher Diploma in Nutrition & Dietetics (Renal Nutrition) – 2 years (Full-time)
Higher Diploma in Medical Laboratory Sciences (Renal Technology) – 2 years (Full-time)
Higher Diploma in Occupational Therapy (Renal Rehabilitation) – 2 years (Full-time)
Higher Diploma in Renal Pharmacy – 2 years (Full-time)
These programmes are designed to equip healthcare professionals with advanced skills in kidney disease management, dialysis technology, renal nutrition, transplant nursing, and rehabilitation.
According to KMTC, the scholarships are open to:
Employees of county governments in Kenya
KMTC staff members
Professionals with at least three years’ experience in a county health facility
Applicants registered with their respective professional regulatory bodies
Candidates who have secured official approval and release from their county employer
Applicants must submit:
An employer’s recommendation letter
A handwritten essay (not more than 200 words) explaining their suitability and how the training will benefit their community
The selection process will include employer recommendation, shortlisting by KMTC, evaluation by the KMTC-EACE scholarship committee, official admission, employer release and bonding as per Public Service Commission guidelines, and final enrolment.
Interested candidates should apply through the KMTC online admissions portal. The application process is similar to regular KMTC applications, but applicants must select the section marked “EACE-UN Scholarship.”
After completing the online form and uploading the required documents, applicants must download the form, have it signed, scan it in PDF format, and re-upload it to the portal.
All applications must be submitted on or before March 15.
Health professionals seeking to specialise in nephrology and related fields are encouraged to apply early before the deadline.
