A major political showdown is looming in the race for Nyakach MP seat with renowned journalist and news anchor said to be in the contest come the next poll.
The seat is currently being held by Aduma Owuor who is eyeing a fourth straight term come the 2027 general election.
But Citizen TV news anchor Trevor Ombija is plotting for his downfall after entering the race.
Over the last couple of months, Ombija is said to have increased his presence on the ground as he plots to transition into the murky world of politics from the media where he has made a name for himself in a colorful career spanning over one decade.

On Christmas Day, 2025, he joined other politicians like Energy Cabinet Secretary in visiting the grave of the former Prime Minister at Kang’o Ka Jaramogi in Bondo, Siaya County.
The 38-year old Ombija is the latest refined journalist to plunge into the murky world of politics, following the footsteps of Nyali MP Mohamed Ali and Kitui County senator Enoch Wambua. But as to whether he will unseat MP Owuor remains to be seen.
