Man Returns Home After 12 Years in London, Reveals Life Abroad Was Far from Easy

A man’s return from London after 12 years with nothing but a small bag has exposed the harsh realities of his family’s struggles and lost fortunes.
His younger brother, who stayed behind in Kenya, shared the heartbreak of seeing their once-promising elder sibling return home empty-handed.
“We were sitting together last night, sharing one small packet of noodles. My brother didn’t come back with suitcases or a foreign accent — just a nylon bag and the same shoes he wore 12 years ago,” the younger brother said.
The two men, both in their late 30s, reflected on what life had become. “No wives, no children, no home. We are living like strangers in the city where our father once owned three filling stations,” he added.
The Family’s Fall from Fortune
Their troubles began after their father passed away. According to Daniel’s brother, relatives who had once benefited from their father’s generosity suddenly claimed debts and seized family property. “Because there was no will, they took everything — even cars — while we were still mourning,” he said.
After losing their inheritance, Daniel left for London with hopes of rebuilding the family’s wealth, while his brother stayed behind, working manual jobs despite having a university degree. “For 12 years, I sent him every shilling I could, sacrificing my own needs so he could succeed,” he explained.

Life in London Didn’t Go as Planned
Daniel revealed that life abroad was far from easy. “The more I worked, the more the money vanished. It was like pouring water into a basket. Any savings I made were swallowed by bills or unexpected problems,” he said.
Now, both brothers are back at square one. “We are two graduates, starting from zero. Sharing one room and one fan. I can’t stop the tears — the suffering has become too much,” the younger brother admitted.
The family now faces a painful reality: years of hope and effort have not prevented them from losing everything. “Sometimes I wonder if this is just bad luck, or if our misfortune is tied to unresolved matters from our father’s life,” he said.
