Saboti MP Caleb Amisi Removed from ODM NEC Position

Saboti Member of Parliament, Caleb Amisi, has reportedly been removed from his position in the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) National Election Committee (NEC).

Amisi confirmed the development during an interview with Radio Generation on Wednesday, February 11, amid social media speculation and circulating letters about his ouster.

According to the MP, he received an official letter from the NEC notifying him of his removal. The letter cited that Amisi held two party positions simultaneously, which the committee claims violates the party’s constitution.

“They have already removed me. I have the letter from the NEC. The reason given is that I hold two roles: I am a county chair and also serve as the ODM Deputy Organising Secretary,” Amisi said.

However, Amisi argues that the process followed by the party was not proper. He emphasized that the party’s constitution requires the NEC to meet, vote, or reach a unanimous decision before any member can be removed from a position.

“For a NEC member to be removed, there is a proper procedure. You cannot just send letters from Bondo on WhatsApp. The NEC must meet, agree or vote on your removal, and you must be given a chance to respond at a hearing,” he explained.
