Salasya Claims Sifuna Has No Place in ODM, Urges Him to Leave

“Sifuna, my brother, this is your final boarding call! ODM is not your home. It’s a waiting room, and your name is already being called,” Salasya said.

Mumias East MP Peter Salasya has publicly told Edwin Sifuna to leave the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM), saying the party is no longer his political home.

Speaking through his X (formerly Twitter) account on Monday morning, Salasya claimed that Sifuna’s stay in ODM is temporary and that he should prepare to exit.

“Sifuna, my brother, this is your final boarding call. ODM is not your home. It’s just a waiting room, and your name is already being called,” Salasya said.

Claims of a weak position in ODM

Salasya went further and suggested that Sifuna does not have real influence in the party. He said leaders like James Orengo and Babu Owino are the ones who truly control ODM.

According to him, Sifuna is only being tolerated and does not have a strong footing.

“You thought you were part of the system, but you are just a visitor. Orengo and Babu are the landlords, and you are just a tenant without a lease,” Salasya added.

Advice to step down early

The outspoken MP advised Sifuna to leave the party before he is pushed out quietly. He claimed that public opinion, especially on social media, is no longer in Sifuna’s favor.

Salasya warned that staying longer could damage Sifuna’s reputation even more.

“Advice is free. Leave now before you are removed quietly. The narrative has already changed. Don’t wait to be embarrassed,” he said.

ODM takes action against Sifuna

At the same time, ODM has already started disciplinary action against Sifuna. The party issued him with a show-cause notice, which could lead to his removal from the position of Secretary General.

The decision was made by the party’s National Executive Committee during a meeting held in February 2026. ODM said Sifuna’s actions were against the party’s constitution and decisions.

The process follows the party rules, which allow an official to respond to accusations before a final decision is made.

Reason behind the disciplinary case

One of the main issues raised by ODM is a past TV interview where Sifuna reportedly declared the ODM–UDA agreement “dead.” The party says his remarks went against its official position and weakened its unity.

If found guilty, Sifuna could lose his powerful role within the party.
