Retired President Uhuru Kenyatta is reportedly planning to take an active role in the 2027 General Election. His main goal is to support Opposition leaders in their efforts to remove President William Ruto from power.
This comes after a high-level meeting held shortly after the burial of former Kirinyaga Senator Daniel Karaba. The meeting took place on Wednesday, April 1, and lasted about 40 minutes.
Uhuru meets Opposition leaders
During the meeting, Uhuru is said to have promised full support to Opposition leaders as they prepare for the next election. Some of the key leaders present included former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, Wiper party leader Kalonzo Musyoka, Martha Karua, Eugene Wamalwa, Fred Matiang’i, Justin Muturi, and Siaya Governor James Orengo.
Sources revealed that Uhuru personally helped organize the leaders to attend the burial, creating an opportunity for them to meet and discuss political strategy.

Call for unity among the Opposition
During the closed-door meeting, Uhuru warned the leaders against being divided. He claimed that there are efforts to weaken the Opposition by creating disagreements among them.
He urged them to remain united and focused on one goal — forming a strong alliance that can challenge President Ruto in 2027. According to insiders, Uhuru stressed that any leader who breaks away from the group may lose public support.
A source also revealed that the Opposition is working on a plan to present one strong presidential candidate who will face Ruto in the next election.
