The Kenya Meteorological Department (KMD) has released its weather forecast for the week of February 10 to February 16, 2026, stating that high temperatures will continue in many parts of the country even as rainfall returns in a few areas.
According to Kenya Met, most regions will remain dry, but some parts of the Central Highlands, Lake Victoria Basin, Rift Valley, South-eastern Lowlands, and Western Kenya are expected to receive light showers.
The department noted that the rainfall will be scattered and mainly experienced in the afternoon or evening hours .
Kenya Met reported that regions such as the Coast, North-eastern Kenya, and North-western Kenya will continue to experience dry weather, long sunny periods, and temperatures rising above 30°C.
In the Central Highlands, including Nairobi, Nyeri, Murang’a, Kiambu, Kirinyaga, Embu, Meru, Laikipia, and Tharaka-Nithi, mornings will be mostly sunny, while some areas may experience afternoon showers, especially in high-altitude locations.
Nighttime temperatures in these areas are expected to drop significantly, with some places recording below 10°C. The region will experience a mix of clear and partly cloudy skies throughout the week.

Weather Outlook for Rift Valley and Western Kenya
Counties in the Rift Valley, such as Nakuru, Baringo, Narok, Elgeyo-Marakwet, Uasin-Gishu, and West Pokot, are likely to experience sunny mornings, with occasional light rainfall in a few areas, especially in the western parts of the region.
In the Lake Victoria Basin, including Kisumu, Siaya, Homa Bay, Migori, Kisii, and Nyamira, the weather will be sunny in the morning, followed by light showers and isolated thunderstorms in the afternoon.
Temperatures in the region will range between 15°C and 31°C, with Kisumu expected to remain mostly dry, although isolated showers may occur later in the week.
Western Kenya counties such as Kakamega, Bungoma, Busia, Vihiga, and Trans-Nzoia will experience a mix of sunshine and occasional rainfall, mainly in the afternoon or at night.
Kenya Met emphasized that the expected rainfall will be minimal and not enough to end the ongoing dry conditions.
South-eastern and Coastal Regions
In the South-eastern Lowlands, including Machakos, Kitui, Makueni, Kajiado, and Taita-Taveta, mornings will be partly cloudy, with a slight chance of light showers in some areas.
Afternoons are expected to be hot and sunny, with temperatures exceeding 30°C in several counties.
Coastal counties such as Mombasa, Kilifi, Kwale, Lamu, and Tana River will experience sunny days and partly cloudy nights. Light showers may occur in a few places, but most areas will remain dry.
High humidity levels combined with high temperatures will increase discomfort in coastal towns.
Kenya Met, Areas to Experience High Temperatures
The Kenya Meteorological Department has warned that temperatures above 30°C will dominate the Coast, North-eastern, and North-western regions.
Counties such as Garissa, Wajir, Mandera, Marsabit, and Lodwar are expected to remain among the hottest areas, with Lodwar recently recording temperatures as high as 38.2°C.
