Kenya Met Department Announces Counties Expected to Receive Rainfall This Week

The Kenya Meteorological Department has announced that several parts of the country will continue receiving rainfall this week.
In its latest seven-day weather forecast covering June 2 to June 8, Kenya Met said rain is expected in parts of the Rift Valley, Lake Victoria Basin, Coastal region, Highlands East and West of the Rift Valley, and some areas in Northeastern Kenya.
According to the forecast, most affected regions will experience sunny mornings followed by afternoon and evening showers. Some areas could also experience thunderstorms.
Weather in Nairobi and Central Kenya
In Nairobi, Kiambu, Nyeri, Nyandarua, Laikipia, Murang’a, Kirinyaga, Embu, Meru and Tharaka Nithi counties, mornings are expected to be cloudy with occasional light rain.
The weather is likely to improve during the day with sunny intervals, although some places may still receive afternoon and evening showers.
Northeastern Region
Marsabit, Mandera, Wajir, Garissa and Isiolo counties are expected to experience mainly sunny weather during the day and partly cloudy conditions at night. However, isolated showers may occur in some areas.
Southeastern Counties
Residents of Machakos, Kitui, Makueni, Kajiado, Taita Taveta and inland parts of Tana River should expect a mix of cloudy mornings and sunny intervals. A few areas could receive isolated afternoon rainfall.
Coastal Region Forecast
Counties along the Coast, including Mombasa, Kilifi, Kwale and Lamu are expected to receive occasional showers during the morning, afternoon and night hours.
Temperature Outlook
Kenya Met has also forecast high daytime temperatures above 30°C in the Coast region, northeastern Kenya and parts of the southeastern lowlands.
Meanwhile, temperatures could drop below 10°C at night in some highland areas, including parts of Central Kenya and the Central Rift Valley.
The weather department has advised residents in affected regions to keep monitoring weather updates and take necessary precautions, especially in areas prone to flooding.
