Sifuna, Babu Owino, Caleb Amisi to Kick Off ‘Linda Mwananchi’ Tour in Busia on Sunday

A group of Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) leaders aligned with party Secretary General Edwin Sifuna has launched a new grassroots political campaign dubbed the “Linda Mwananchi Tour”, marking a fresh wave of political mobilisation within the opposition party.
The tour is set to officially kick off in Busia County on Sunday, February 8, where ODM leaders are expected to hold public meetings, rallies, and discussions with residents. The initiative signals renewed political activity as factions within the party reposition themselves ahead of the 2027 General Election.
Several senior ODM leaders and lawmakers are expected to take part in the Busia launch. Among the senators listed to attend are Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna, Kisii Senator Richard Onyonka, Vihiga Senator Godfrey Osotsi, and Nyamira Senator Erick Okong’o Mogeni.

Members of the National Assembly expected at the event include Embakasi East MP Babu Owino, Caleb Amisi, Wanami Wamboka, Patrick Makau, Joshua Kimilu, and Majimbo Kalasinga. Other legislators such as Wilberforce Oundo, Raphael Wanjala, Caroli Omondi, Obadiah Barongo, Clive Gisairo, and Antoney Kibagendi are also set to join the mobilisation drive.
Political analyst Brian Weke is among the invited participants and is expected to offer insights into Kenya’s political landscape and governance issues during the tour.
Notably, many of the leaders participating in the Busia event are viewed as being opposed to the emerging cooperation between ODM and the ruling UDA coalition. This highlights the growing ideological and strategic divisions within the party.
The “Linda Mwananchi” campaign is built around themes of economic struggles, governance reforms, and the protection of citizens’ rights—issues that have dominated recent opposition messaging.
Although ODM has not released an official statement endorsing the tour, the initiative underscores rising internal tensions within the party. Some leaders allied to senior figures, including Senator Oburu Oginga, have publicly expressed support for closer ties with the ruling coalition, deepening the split within ODM.
