Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has accused Nakuru Governor Susan Kihika of allegedly controlling businesses in the county, while describing the governor as a betrayer of Nakuru residents.
Speaking in remarks captured on video, Gachagua claimed that businesses in Nakuru are being controlled by people close to Governor Kihika.
He further accused Kihika of being aligned with President William Ruto.
Gachagua said Nakuru residents need a new governor if the county is to move forward, and suggested that the Democratic Congress Party (DCP) could provide an alternative political leadership.
His remarks are likely to attract attention in Nakuru, where political competition has remained strong ahead of the next elections.
The claims made by Gachagua are political allegations, and Governor Susan Kihika or her representatives would have an opportunity to respond to them.
